Lineman

About This Role

This field-based role involves traveling daily to job sites in Central New York State to install and relocate aerial and underground cables. The Lineman performs all duties according to safety procedures, ensuring technical reliability and cost-efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Perform all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment
• Install and/or relocate aerial and underground cable including fiber optic, transportation, distribution, and drop cable
• Ensure that installations meet industry standards, are technically reliable, and performed in a timely and cost-efficient manner
• Provide support for line crews during all phases of construction activity

Requirements

• Ability to climb poles to cable height using pole climber gaffs
• Current valid driver's license (preferably a CDL A) with a clean driving record
• 2+ years of experience as a lineman and knowledge to detect power space violations and safety issues
• Ability to lift, reach, dig, and carry heavy objects; with frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and infrequent lifting of up to 100 pounds
• Ability to perform heavy physical work and duties in a safe and efficient manner
• Ability to work up to 6 days per week in an all-weather environment and willingness to travel as required
• Successful completion of a pre-employment, on-site certification demonstrating ability to complete described duties to the satisfaction of construction supervision
• Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test; random testing will be completed after date of hire
• Pass a customer-driven background check
• Follow safety guidelines and wear personal protective equipment at all times
• Speak the English language fluently and clearly
