Life Skills Coach

About This Role

This coaching role supports a young adult returning to Johnson City after long-term treatment, helping them achieve whole-life wellness and greater independence. The coach will assist with vocational exploration, managing daily tasks, and integrating into the community. The position is ideal for someone with experience in mental health support or neurodiversity.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual coaching sessions with clients to develop personalized goal plans
• Provide support to clients in achieving their goals, such as academics, employment, independent living, managing their own medication, and more
• Utilize a variety of techniques and modalities to address clients' unique needs
• Collaborate with the LifeTutors team
• Keep accurate records of client progress, notes, and maintain confidentiality of participant information
• Participate in earning in-house coaching certification
• Organize and maintain home space
• Explore vocational opportunities and other ways to engage in community
• Regulate emotions/nervous system
• Build personal agency
• Create healthy movement and nutrition routines

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in a human services related field, such as psychology, counseling, social work or education, or ICF/BCC/similar coaching certification
• Experience working in mental or behavioral health with young/emerging adults
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients
• Empathy and an accepting approach to supporting adults in transition
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• 1 year of life skills coaching experience
