About the role
Duties Description Capital District Psychiatric Center (CDPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), to join their team. No previous psychiatric experience is required.
LPNs at CDPC are part of a multi-disciplinary team focused on providing compassionate care and patient-centered and recovery-focused mental health services to individuals with serious mental illness.
LPNs, under the direction of a RN:
- Perform nursing care tasks consistent with individual treatment plans
- Administer medication
- Attend to individuals’ personal care needs including daily living and hygiene tasks
Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Licensed Practical Nurse if they have:
- License and current registration to practice as a practical nurse in New York State;
OR
- Limited Permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State;
OR
- Application on file for a Limited Permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State.
OR
Candidates within State Service can be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Posted hiring rate includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for ISU Grade 10 ($45,081), an Increase Hiring Rate ($5,852), and Geographic Pay Differential ($4,000). The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($50,933) and Geographic Pay Differential ($4,000).

If you fail to maintain your license and registration once you are appointed to Licensed Practical Nurse, action will be taken to remove you from the position.
