Library Technician

About This Role

This Library Technician role is for a positive, friendly, and organised individual to join a co-educational primary school with a strong and vibrant community. The school has a current enrolment of 493 students from 3-Year-Old Kindergarten to Year 6, including an Education Support Unit and a Regional Early Intervention Centre for students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage the day-to-day operations of the school library
• Learn library management systems, including processing, cataloguing, and maintaining library resources, ensuring that library records are accurate and up to date
• Support students and staff in accessing library resources
• Promote a love of literature and lifelong learning through the organisation of library displays, events, and initiatives
• Work independently and in partnership with the school community to create a welcoming and vibrant library environment for all

Requirements

• Ability to effectively manage the day-to-day operations of the school library
• Experience or willingness to learn library management systems, including processing, cataloguing, and maintaining library resources, ensuring that the library records are accurate and up to date
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to support students and staff in accessing library resources
• Commitment to promoting a love of literature and lifelong learning through the organisation of library displays, events, and initiatives
• Ability to work independently and in partnership with the school community to create a welcoming and vibrant library environment for all
• Understanding of, and commitment to the ethos and values of Catholic education
• A current Working with Children’s Check
• Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School (or working towards)
• Legally permitted to work in Australia
• Required to complete the Child Safe Framework (Mandatory Reporting) through CEWA
• Undergo a CEWA Check
