Librarian

About This Role

The Librarian is responsible for general library operations and providing excellent customer service. This role suits individuals who are detail-oriented and committed to public service, with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

• Organize and shelve library materials according to standard library procedures
• Work at the circulation desk and assist the public in locating information
• Help patrons acquire materials from other libraries
• Assist patrons with technology
• Maintain proper courtesy in phone and personal contacts

Requirements

• High School Diploma required; some college coursework and/or library experience preferred
• Intermediate computer skills and general knowledge of cataloging practices
• Ability to use the Dewey System and basic organizing skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs., push carts, shelve and carry books, boxes, and equipment
• Willingness to work a varied schedule including evenings

Important Details

• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Probation: 6 months
• Expected hours: 40.0 per week
