Legal Secretary

About This Role

The Legal Secretary will support attorneys, maintain case files, and ensure smooth operations within the litigation team. This role suits an organized, detail-oriented individual capable of managing a diverse workload in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and format legal documents and papers, such as pleadings, summonses, subpoenas, discovery requests, and correspondence
• File documents electronically with state and federal courts
• Maintain and organize legal files, including indexing, tracking, and filing documents
• Coordinate meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements for attorneys
• Communicate with clients, witnesses, and court personnel to schedule meetings, depositions, and hearings
• Manage and update databases and track deadlines
• Manage day-to-day administrative tasks including time entry, expense reporting, and ordering supplies

Requirements

• Proven work experience as a Legal Secretary or related role in a law firm
• Knowledge of legal terminology, regulations, and court system procedures
• Proficient in MS Office and legal software applications
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
