Legal Secretary

About This Role

This full-time, on-site Legal Litigation Secretary role supports attorneys in taking cases from inception through trial within a law firm dedicated to protecting policyholders' rights. The position suits a professional, organized individual with a passion for the legal field and experience supporting a litigation team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in taking a case from inception through trial
• Calendar dates and deadlines
• File in federal, state, and appellate courts
• Prepare documents

Requirements

• 5+ years of Legal Secretary/Assistant experience
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Demonstrate good judgment, discretion, and a proactive work ethic
• Understand legal language, legal documents, court rules, and procedures
• Draft, proofread, and format legal documents and correspondence
• Prepare and file documents with state and federal courts
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Proficient with tracking and calendaring case-related deadlines to comply with court requirements
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Work well in a team environment or independently
• Comfortable and professional interacting with clients, vendors, experts, clerks, and opposing counsel
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• High School Diploma or GED required

Nice to have:

• 3+ years of litigation experience
• Experience with appellate courts
• Legal research experience
