Duties
Analyzes and examines extremely difficult, or controversial title cases.
Independently plans, organizes, conducts research and analyzes legal documents pertaining to each specific case worked.
Examine and corrects extremely complex title documents for the acquisition and disposal of real property rights pertaining to trust, restricted, fee and reserved lands.
Prepares abstracts of title by carefully examining each legal description of the property.
Advises the realty specialists in the preparation of various forms of title conveyances and divestment documents, equitable title documents, deeds, leases, grants, property management agreements, stipulations, memoranda of understanding, casements, etc.
Qualifications
GS-7: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level.
Examples of specialized experience are, but not limited to; examining titles, preparing chains of title, title status reports, and maintaining the accuracy of computerized systems, as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples may include: receiving and processing permit applications, examining applications for completeness of information, adequacy of supporting documentation and certifications, ensuring applications meet regulatory requirement for requested permit types, maintaining office permit files.
GS-6: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level.
Examples of specialized experience are, but not limited to; examining titles, preparing chains of title, title status reports, and maintaining the accuracy of computerized systems, as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples may include: preparing documents, using office software programs to retrieve and sort information file or records, receiving and examining applications for completeness of information.
GS-5: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 grade level OR 4 years of successfully completed education above the high school level.
Examples of specialized experience are, but not limited to; routine in nature in examining titles, preparing chains of title, title status reports, and maintaining the accuracy of computerized systems, as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples may include: preparing documents, using office software programs to retrieve and sort information file or records.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the position to be filled.
The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that the applicant possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field. In addition to courses in the major and related fields, a typical college degree would have included courses that involved analysis, writing, critical thinking, research, etc. These courses would have provided an applicant with skills and abilities sufficient to perform progressively more responsible work in the occupation. Therefore, creditable experience should have demonstrated similarly appropriate skills or abilities needed to perform the work of the occupation.

Part-Time or Unpaid Experience: Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience regardless of whether compensation was received or whether the experience was gained in a part-time or full-time occupation. Full-time work is generally considered to be 35 to 40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
