Lecturer / Senior Lecturer

About This Role

This academic role involves delivering engaging lectures and assessing students in information technology, computer science, or related fields. The position requires a passion for teaching and developing the next generation of IT professionals, combined with strong technical expertise and an industry-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging lectures and assess students in accordance with accredited programmes and module requirements
• Provide timely feedback on assignments, exams, and other assessments to facilitate student learning and growth
• Independently utilise the learning management system (LMS) and collaborate with colleagues to design, develop, and deliver modules effectively
• Participate in the ongoing development of programmes and curriculum, incorporating current educational trends and best practices
• Undertake assigned internal moderation responsibilities to ensure assessment validity and reliability
• Conduct venue-based assessment invigilation as required by the registrar's office
• Provide academic guidance and support to students, addressing their concerns and queries promptly
• Complete all quality assurance requirements related to modules and programmes to ensure compliance with academic standards
• Engage in research activities and contribute to community projects, fostering a culture of continuous learning and positive societal impact
• Maintain open and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and management members
• Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) while maintaining administrative efficiency
• Participate in meetings, workshops, and relevant committees as requested by management
• Fulfil administrative duties related to the position as directed by the relevant line manager

Requirements

• Proficiency in networking, systems administration, databases, and software development
• Strong programming background (Python, Java, C++ or similar) with data science, machine learning, and software engineering exposure
• Prior teaching experience at a higher education level or professional/industry experience in IT infrastructure and systems

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of cybersecurity, cloud computing, IT governance, applied networks and applied mathematics in IT will be highly advantageous
• Industry certifications (e.g. Cisco CCNA/CCNP, AWS, Microsoft Azure, CompTIA Security+, Data Science, Security+) are advantageous
