Duties

Provides leadership, and guidance to subordinate staff. Plans, schedules and assigns work and provides technical and policy direction. Sets work unit goals in accordance with divisional goals and priorities, motivates employees to increase and/or maintain productivity. Evaluates work performance of subordinate staff and recommends appropriate awards to recognize exceptional performance or to deal with inadequate performance through counseling, training, coaching, and other means. Advises, counsels and instructs employees on both work and administrative matters. Resolves employee complaints concerning working conditions and related matters. Provides referral services, when needed, to employees experiencing personal problems that interfere with effective performance or undermine workgroup cohesiveness.xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /

Facilitates front country campground summer and winter operations and backcountry campground operations. Coordinates campground volunteers, including scheduling the use of campsites, and welcoming and assisting volunteers as they come and go. General upkeep and maintenance of the campground throughout the summer, including working with maintenance staff to keep the bath houses clean and well-stocked. Assists with other volunteer-related duties including data entry, correspondence, and coordination of volunteer events. Incumbent oversees services to visitors such as assisting those who have lost or found personal items.

Other duties include greeting visitors, disseminating information, and collecting/accounting for fees at entrance stations, visitor center and campground office. Monitors status and progress of work, ensuring compliance with fee guidelines, accounting for and depositing monies and issued stock, auditing employees, operating an electronic cash register, accurately completing paperwork, and preparing and submitting daily remittances, using the Over The Counter Network (OTC net – government electronic deposit system).

Performs opening and closing shift functions, issues and verifies entrance receipts, park passes, and federal recreation passports in accordance with established guideline. Interacts with a large variety of individuals of varying ages, abilities, and needs. Maintains a Professional appearance, courtesy and customer service is always the priority. Provide technical assistance of Point of Sale equipment and accounting software. Incumbent will provide traffic control at entrance station(s), parking areas, etc. Performs minor maintenance of vehicles and facilities to include but not limited to cleaning out grills, picking up trash, emptying garbage cans, installing/repairing signs, cleaning, maintaining and minor repair of vehicles including golf carts.

Fall season involves working with the Hunt Plan. Provide Hunt Plan information to the public, in writing, by telephone, or in person, regarding the use of the managed area. Check hunters in and out of hunting areas. Operates the Hunting Check-In area and records harvest information.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work may be physically and mentally demanding and will require standing for long periods of time, lifting moderately heavy items, and dealing with a high volume of visitor contacts; mental stress and physical fatigue may occur. Work is often performed in small outdoor structures with open windows resulting in exposure to extremes of temperature, rain, wind, blowing sand, and direct sunlight. Duties may be performed alone in isolated locations. High levels of vehicle noise and emissions may exist during heavy visitation periods. The duties will require working nights, weekends and holidays.

To be considered qualified for this GS-06 position, you must possess the qualifying specialized experience, as well as the identified selective factor, outlined in this announcement and referenced in the occupational assessment questionnaire attached to this announcement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes, but is not limited to: providing resource orientation, disseminating information, collecting and accounting for fees, leading others involved in fee collection or visitor orientation programs, and working with technology and software used in revenue and fee management.

**SELECTIVE FACTOR (MANDATORY):**In addition to meeting the specialized experience above, applicants must meet the following factor in order to be considered for this position:
