Content Platforms & Operations is responsible for the development and ongoing advancement of the technical and operational functions driving the worldwide distribution and monetization of Disney’s linear networks and theatrical content. This includes Disney’s media supply chain and storage, network and theatrical distribution operations, media localization, network transmission and origination, and more. The global team also plays a critical role as the primary collaboration point for Product & Technology with Disney’s EMEA, APAC, and LATAM regional business teams.

Job Summary: As part of the CPO Shared Services Frontend team, you’ll be responsible for developing reusable UI components, and shared code modules used within the digital supply chain. In addition you’ll be expected from time to time to drive specific sets of features for the digital supply chain; including making software architecture decisions, mentoring other engineers, and reviewing code.

Responsibilities:

  • Development of shared platform features and needs for various video workflows
  • Creating and maintaining shared software solutions
  • Mentoring other engineers and reviewing code
  • Partnering with other engineering and product teams forward looking for said products

Basic Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of industry experience
  • Mastery of frontend web development technologies and principles
  • Extensive experience with JavaScript/Typescript, JS frameworks such as React, and server-side templating (NodeJS, PHP)
  • Experience with task automation (WebPack, RSPack, Rollup) and CSS Preprocessors (Less, Sass, PostCSS)
  • Experience with CI/CD using tools such as GitLab Pipelines, GitHub Actions, TeamCity or Jenkins
  • Experience with cloud based software solutions and cloud native technologies such as Amazon ECS/EC2, Fargate, CloudFront.
  • Experience with Lua, Python, shell scripting, Go, or other multi-platform and full stack programming languages
  • Ability to research, learn, assess, and evangelize new technologies
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Driven and self-motivated

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with web based video player technologies such as BitMovin or Shaka
  • Experience with WebGL and/or Web canvas based UIs
  • Experience with video streaming, and DRM

Required Education:

  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree or level of previous experience

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, California is $155,700 to $208,700 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
