LEAD DESIGN ENGINEER - PRIMARY
Roles and Responsibilities.
• Lead and execute Primary Design Engineering activities for AIS / GIS Substation projects across multiple geographies, ensuring compliance with project specifications and applicable standards.
• Manage primary engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle, from pre-bid engineering to commissioning and warranty support.
• Ensure timely completion of engineering deliverables by planning man-hours, monitoring progress, and coordinating effectively with inter-departmental and project teams.
• Review and approve engineering drawings, design calculations, vendor deliverables, and BOQs, while ensuring timely submission and obtaining necessary client approvals.
• Perform and oversee Layout Engineering, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), Earthing Design, Cable Routing, Lighting Systems, Lightning Protection Systems, and Equipment Layout Engineering.
• Coordinate vendor evaluation, technical validation, factory inspections, and technical discussions, while working closely with procurement and supply chain teams.
• Lead and mentor Design Engineers and Draughts persons, driving productivity improvements, maintaining design quality, and ensuring adherence to project schedules.
• Provide technical clarifications to clients and internal stakeholders, support site teams during execution, and resolve design-related issues to facilitate smooth project implementation.
• Utilize tools such as MS Office and Dialux for engineering activities; exposure to ETAP, PSCAD, and CYMGRD will be considered an added advantage.
Qualification: • B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering
Minimum Years of Experience and Industry Preference:
• 7-10 years of experience in Primary Design Engineering for Substation projects involving AIS / GIS systems.
• Proven experience in handling primary engineering activities across multiple phases of substation projects, including design, execution support, and commissioning assistance.
• Strong knowledge of substation layouts, equipment arrangements, earthing systems, cable routing, and associated design standards and practices.
• Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams, coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders, and deliver quality outputs within project timelines.
• MUST: SUBSTATION DESIGN EXPERIENCE.
