As a Lead Mechanical Technician, you will serve as a technical expert in the assembly of complex electrical power distribution equipment. You will lead assembly teams to ensure high-precision builds, drive continuous improvement in production workflows, and mentor junior staff to maintain our commitment to engineering excellence.
Responsibilities
- Execute the assembly of intricate mechanical components for switchgear and breaker systems by interpreting complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Conduct rigorous in-process quality inspections to ensure all units meet strict performance standards and safety requirements.
- Provide technical leadership to assembly teams, coordinating daily tasks and assisting with on-the-job training to elevate overall team proficiency.
- Perform root cause analysis on engineering changes to resolve discrepancies and optimize assembly procedures.
- Monitor and report on material shortages to prevent production bottlenecks and ensure on-time delivery.
- Maintain a high-standard, organized, and safe work environment, actively participating in safety initiatives and protocol adherence.
- Perform mechanical adjustments and final system validations to ensure product reliability.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- 4+ years of experience in a high-precision manufacturing or industrial assembly environment.
- Advanced proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, single-line diagrams, and three-line electrical schematics.
- Strong mathematical aptitude, including the ability to perform precise conversions between fractions, decimals, and metric units.
- Demonstrated experience safely operating a wide range of hand and power tools.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work comfortably at heights using appropriate fall protection equipment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience utilizing ERP or MES software (e.g., Oracle) for inventory tracking and drawing retrieval.
- Proven track record of leading small teams or mentoring junior technicians.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on identifying and documenting process improvements.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
