Lead Engineering Manager Capital Projects
A premier industrial leader in the North American infrastructure sector is seeking a seasoned Engineering Manager to oversee large scale capital investment projects. This role focuses on the development, feasibility, and front end engineering design for significant industrial upgrades across the United States and Canada.
Reporting to the regional Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for guiding technical teams through the full lifecycle of multi million dollar projects. Your focus will include decarbonization initiatives, alternative fuel integration, and material processing enhancements. We are looking for a strategic leader who can bridge the gap between technical design and operational excellence while maintaining a rigorous safety culture.
Core Responsibilities
Direct the technical multi disciplinary engineering phases for projects typically exceeding 10 million dollars in value.
Partner with external engineering firms and internal operations teams to ensure project layouts and concepts are lean, constructible, and meet group standards.
Manage the development of project documentation including mass flow sheets, basic engineering layouts, and technical specifications for tender packages.
Oversee project investment gates from initial concept through to final investment decisions, ensuring all timelines and budgets are met.
Conduct formal risk assessments and value engineering reviews to optimize safety, maintainability, and return on investment.
Provide technical oversight during the construction and commissioning phases, serving as a subject matter expert for site teams.
Requirements
A Bachelor degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field is required.
Minimum of 5 to 7 years of professional experience in a heavy industrial environment such as cement, aggregates, furnace operations, or similar processing industries.
Demonstrated expertise in industrial plant design, including process calculations and material handling logistics.
Strong understanding of civil and electrical engineering principles within an industrial context.
Proven track record of managing third party vendors and multi disciplinary engineering consultants.
Ability to travel approximately 30 percent of the time throughout North America.
Commitment to stringent safety protocols, including the ability to meet respirator fit requirements if necessary.
