Lead Embedded Software Development Engineer

About This Role

This role involves leading the design and implementation of embedded firmware for AMD networking products within the Embedded Solutions Engineering Group. It suits a high-calibre software engineer with strong leadership skills and a passion for technology, who will work closely with silicon teams to develop high-performance network stacks and bring products to release.

Responsibilities

• Work with AMD’s architecture specialists to improve future products
• Apply a data-minded approach to target optimization efforts
• Stay informed of software and hardware trends and innovations, especially pertaining to algorithms and architecture
• Design and develop new groundbreaking AMD technologies
• Participate in new ASIC and FPGA bring-ups
• Debug and fix existing issues and research alternative, more efficient ways to accomplish the same work
• Develop technical relationships with peers and partners

Requirements

• Strong object-oriented programming background, C/C++ preferred
• Proven software experience working at silicon or networking companies
• Proven commercial experience developing in C / Embedded C
• Experience of Python and other scripting languages
• Strong communication skills
• Hardware/software codesign
• Ethernet & TCP/IP
• Embedded systems ideally with experience of system software and device drivers
• Understanding of server system architectures e.g. PCI-Express
• Experience of Linux systems
• Ability to quickly understand complex hardware and software architectures
• Ability to tackle system-level problems
• Knowledge of relevant embedded debug techniques and tools
• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
