As Lead Engineer/Engineering Manager, you will lead the electrical engineering of complex maritime installations for vessels in dredging, offshore, and utility projects. You organize an international engineering team, ensure that designs comply with Bureau Veritas, Lloyd’s, and CCS standards, and deliver complete drawing packages and project documentation on time. You work on multiple projects in parallel and translate customer requirements into reliable marine electrical installations with measurable impact on safety, energy efficiency, and uptime.
You will be working for a Dutch, internationally operating technical service provider in maritime and industrial electrical engineering. This organization has been active for over a century in shipbuilding, offshore, dredging, and utilities, delivering integrated solutions such as maritime electrical installations, control systems, switchboards, and automation. The company employs around 300 people, divided over three technical divisions (maritime installations, metalworking, and electrical engineering) and has multiple locations in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and South America. From these offices, new-build and retrofit projects are carried out worldwide, with a strong focus on reliable, energy-efficient solutions and long-term customer relationships.
Wat ga je doen?
- Coordinate an international team of engineers and monitor the progress and quality of engineering activities;
- Design marine electrical installations and maritime systems based on customer specifications and applicable standards;
- Prepare complete drawing packages, material specifications, and other project documentation, and deliver these according to schedule;
- Support the project manager with the technical scope, actively report on progress and risks, and jointly manage the project team.
Wat neem je mee?
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent;
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as Lead Engineer or equivalent, preferably in the maritime sector;
- Proven experience in designing marine electrical installations or comparable marine electrical systems;
- Proficient in AutoCAD and SEE Electrical (or E-Plan), or willing to learn these packages quickly;
- Knowledge of maritime regulations and standards, such as Bureau Veritas, Lloyd’s, and CCS, or equivalent;
- Available for at least 32 hours per week;
- Commercial and customer-oriented approach, with focus on long-term relationships and feasible solutions;
- Strong communication skills, analytical, accurate, decisive, and proactive;
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a structured manner under pressure.
