About This Role
This senior-level leadership position sets the technical vision for the company's next-generation data platform and mentors the team building it. It is a pivotal role that guides the technical direction of critical data initiatives, leveraging technologies like Kafka, MongoDB, and Couchbase to redefine how data moves and is utilized across the enterprise. The role suits a subject matter expert with a passion for real-time data, modern architecture, and hands-on leadership.
Responsibilities
- Drive the strategic vision: Partner with management to define and integrate system enhancements, ensuring the data platform meets ambitious business goals and powers the deployment of new, data-driven products
- Lead high-impact data projects: Take command of designing and delivering complex data systems, providing expert evaluation of business processes, system architecture, and industry standards to build robust, scalable solutions
- Architect for real-time: Serve as the go-to expert for the data platform, ensuring every design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint, and lead the charge in building high-throughput, resilient data pipelines using Kafka
- Set the standard for data excellence: Leverage advanced knowledge of system flow and data patterns to establish best practices for coding, testing, and implementation of data services, and be the authority on storing and accessing data at rest using NoSQL databases like MongoDB and Couchbase
- Mentor and elevate your team: Act as a dedicated advisor and coach to mid-level developers and analysts, guiding their work, fostering their growth, and building a high-performing data engineering culture
- Innovate and solve: Provide deep, interpretive analysis to define complex data challenges and develop innovative solutions
- Partner with multiple management teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals as well as identify and define necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process improvements
- Resolve a variety of high-impact problems/projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards
- Provide expertise in the area and advanced knowledge of applications programming and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint
- Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals
- Provide in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions
- Serve as advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
