Lead Data Center Technician

Location: Northern Virginia (Sterling, Leesburg, Gainesville, Aldie)

Terms: W-2 Contract (full-time, 40 hours/week)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

We are hiring an experienced Lead Data Center Technician to support our Fortune 10 cloud technology client across multiple state-of-the-art data centers throughout Northern Virginia. This is a senior, hands-on technical leadership role for someone who has gained deep expertise as a Data Center Technician and progressed into leading, training, and mentoring other technicians. You will serve as a technical authority across multiple projects and sites, providing leadership to technicians and Site Leads while ensuring work is technically ready, executed correctly, and completed to established quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the senior onsite technical authority for execution decisions, escalations, and quality standards across multiple data center sites and projects.
  • Lead and mentor Site Leads and Data Center Technicians, serving as the technical escalation layer above Site Leads across locations.
  • Validate project scope, sequencing, crew capability, tools, materials, and technical readiness before work begins.
  • Provide technical oversight and hands-on expertise across MOR (Middle of Row), PRD (Pre-Rack Deployment), White Glove, Post Dock, NDT file creation and interpretation, and cable termination.
  • Identify technical risks, provide go/no-go input before complex or high-risk work begins, and intervene when execution deviates from established standards.
  • Certify work quality and completion across MOR, PRD, White Glove, and Post Dock scopes to ensure established technical and acceptance standards are met.
  • Train and mentor technicians through hands-on execution, demonstrating proper methods and developing technical capabilities.
  • Lead complex, high-risk, and first-of-kind deployments requiring advanced technical judgment.
  • Ensure accurate project documentation, technical records, and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Expert-level hands-on experience with data center technical infrastructure, including MOR, PRD, White Glove, Post Dock, NDT file creation and interpretation, and cable termination.
  • Extensive hands-on experience as a Data Center Technician with demonstrated career progression into senior technical and leadership responsibilities.
  • Proven experience leading, training, and mentoring Data Center Technicians.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills with the ability to independently resolve complex or non-routine technical issues.
  • Strong understanding of data center deployment processes, technical standards, quality requirements, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and project requirements.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to regularly commute between data center locations throughout Sterling, Leesburg, Gainesville, and Aldie, VA.
  • Must be willing and able to travel nationwide for 1–2 weeks at a time, a few times per year.
