About This Role

Working in the Property Team within West Sussex County Council Legal Services, the Lawyer provides clear and balanced advice on commercial property, residential property, and land law matters. The role involves managing a varied caseload, drafting and advising on various legal documents, and preparing title reports.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear and balanced advice in relation to commercial property, residential property, and land law matters
• Carry a mixed caseload
• Draft and provide advice on leases, licenses, easements, and sales
• Prepare title reports
• Provide general advice on other land law related matters

Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive or equivalent experience working at this level
• Practical knowledge and experience of commercial property, residential property, and land law
• Ability to analyse legal issues
• Good eye for detail
• Capable of building effective relationships with all stakeholders
• Effective IT skills to enable drafting and completion of reports with comprehensive research skills
• Sound organisational skills to manage a caseload, with the flexibility to adapt and respond to changing priorities
• Ability to present and advise clients on subject specific matters and build effective relationships to deliver a customer focused service
• Understanding and providing effective legal advice to a range of stakeholders on a range of commercial property, residential property and land law matters
• Ability to analyse and advise on legislative and regulatory materials and present arguments in written format
• 3 years of satisfactory references
