Job Description LAW CLERK, LEAD – LITIGATION DIVISION CITY OF ATLANTA DEPARTMENT OF LAW Salary: $70,000/yr. General Description This position is responsible for:
Manage assigned caseloads or project files from inception through resolution under supervision.
Conduct research on case law, statutes, and regulations, and draft briefs, motions, pleadings, and legal memoranda.
Preparing drafts of pleadings and discovery responses for attorney review ; p reparing legal documents, articles, and case summaries required for case preparation .
Identifying gaps or missing documents in productions.
Attend hearings, depositions, and client meetings, often assisting senior attorneys (second-chair) or handling minor proceedings independently.
Reviewing depositions and preparing summaries .
Collaborating with attorney(s) on case strategy to successfully close the matter .
Maintaining and updating case statuses in the document management system .
Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree or certification from a paralegal program, or 15 (fifteen) years as a senior paralegal (external) or demonstrated exceptional work experience as a Paralegal IV in the COA Department of Law.
Work Schedule This position follows the City’s hybrid work schedule policy as assigned by the Department of Human Resources Commissioner and requires in-person work at City worksites/facilities at least four (4) days per week, with the option to work remotely one (1) day per week, based on eligibility, departmental needs, and supervisor approval. The hybrid work schedule is subject to change at any time to five (5) days in-person work.
