Landfill Gas Technician – Oakdale, LA
Schedule: 100% outdoor role • Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM • On‑call nights & weekends
Waste Connections is seeking a hands‑on, safety‑focused Landfill Gas Technician to join our team in Oakdale, LA. This role is fully outdoors and requires working in all weather conditions. You’ll be part of a small, skilled team responsible for maintaining and optimizing the landfill gas collection and control system (GCCS) that supports safe and compliant landfill operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain landfill gas system components in the field
- Pull, clean, and service pumps according to the preventive maintenance schedule
- Perform well‑field valve and vacuum adjustments to ensure proper system performance
- Run and fuse poly pipe as needed for system expansions or repairs
- Calibrate, operate, and maintain electronic monitoring and data‑collection equipment
- Respond to after‑hours GCCS alarms or malfunctions on an on‑call rotation
- Complete additional duties as assigned to support landfill operations
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Work is performed entirely outdoors, year‑round, in all weather conditions
- Frequent exposure to dirt, odors, uneven terrain, and other landfill‑related elements
- Requires strenuous physical activity, including lifting, pushing, and pulling items over 50 lbs.
- Regular walking, bending, climbing, and working on slopes or rough ground
- Requires attention to detail, taking extensive notes and effectively communicating with supervisor.
