Tour of Duty:
Day Shift: Monday - Friday (7:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M.)
Evening Shift: Monday - Friday (6:00 P.M. - 2:30 A.M.)
Night Shift: Monday - Friday (10:00 P.M. - 6:30 A.M.)
SHIFTS MAY CHANGE DUE TO OPERATING NEEDS OF MANAGEMENT
The employee is a Laborer (Recycler), performing a wide range of laborer duties including setting up and arranging furniture; moving furniture, supplies, boxes and construction materials; operating floor care equipment; and performing other cleaning and maintenance tasks.
Duties:

Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and heavy construction building materials and supplies to and from trucks. Moves heavy boxes and cartons by hand, hand truck, or dolly. Collects trash and debris from Congressional Buildings and surrounding grounds. Empties trash, garbage and other debris from receptacles located throughout the building and the grounds. Performs other tasks such as clearing snow and ice from building entrances, spreading salt, and picking up litter.

Use, maintain and operate powered floor machines and hand tools such as vacuums, brooms, buffers, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture to perform laborer and cleaning duties.

Empty wastebaskets, collect and dispose of refuse. Sweep, mop and wax floors; wash walls and windows, dust and perform other cleaning duties.

Collects and sorts recyclable material, including aluminum cans, plastic and glass bottles, newspaper, and paper, from various locations with the buildings. Relines recycle containers with plastic bags. Places recycled material in appropriate locations as determined by management. Collects all wet waste material from various locations within buildings and relines all wet waste containers and disposes of all wet waste materials. Cleans recycling containers as necessary.

Provides set-up and support for special events. Sets up dining areas, meeting rooms auditoriums, classrooms, etc., in various configurations for many types of events. Moves and arranges furniture and equipment for changes in room assignments or room configurations. Moves items that may weigh more than 80 lbs.

Assists the shop offices' trades personnel with short-term repair and construction projects, such as tearing down walls or ceilings using hand tools, in accordance with detailed oral or written instructions.

Follows all relevant safety rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures and complies with all OSHA safety rules and regulations.
