Laboratory Technician

About This Role

This laboratory technician role involves testing and inspecting products at various stages of the production process, compiling and evaluating statistical data to ensure product quality and reliability. The position requires a detail-oriented individual capable of performing a range of laboratory tasks and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Test and inspect products at various stages of the production process
• Compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products
• Use gauges and other devices to verify conformity to product standards
• Suggest or recommend changes regarding special requirements as needed
• Assist in implementing a total quality management program and/or train others on total quality management
• Obtain samples of raw materials/finished products
• Test all final products for conformance to specifications
• Test incoming raw materials
• Enter all results in a database
• Maintain a clean/safe work area
• Be responsible for all lab results and the quality of work performed
• Identify critical points in the manufacturing process and define sampling procedure
• Interact regularly with engineering, manufacturing, and service functions to establish quality standards for raw material, work in process, and finished products
• Comply with company policies and the Standards of Business Conduct
• Adhere to general and job-specific safety, environmental, and quality guidelines/procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Two-year associate's degree in a Lab Tech program or higher education in Science preferred (Minimum High School Diploma/GED Required)
• Or at least two years of experience in a laboratory or quality control area required
• Complete knowledge on how to perform the following:
• Basic use of glassware, balances, fume hoods, and standardized lab equipment
• Basic mechanical aptitude in a lab setting
• Understanding of ASTM or similar methods
• Good housekeeping practices
• Vision: Normal Required
• Hearing: Normal Required
• Reaching/Stretching: Normal Required
• Standing/Walking/Mobility: Normal Required
• Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: Normal Required
• Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: Normal Required
• Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Normal Required
• Capable of lifting 50 lbs on a periodic basis
