About This Role
The Laboratory Technician supports a research environment by preparing samples, performing diagnostic testing, and maintaining laboratory equipment and records. This role is for an experienced professional who can ensure compliance with safety and security regulations in a controlled access facility.
Responsibilities
- Clean workspaces and equipment
- Maintain water baths and incubators
- Restock active inventory items
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of cells, viruses, reagents, and materials
- Receive and store cells, viruses, reagents, and materials using proper storage conditions
- Perform weekly safety shower and eye wash station inspections
- Autoclave trash and waste
- Assist in the installation and evaluation of BDM equipment and facilities
- Coordinate shipping and receiving of material with BDM partners and provide weekly list of material received due on last day of every week
- Serve as an escort to visiting personnel
- Provide Quarterly Reports
- Input IT and service requests as needed
- Work effectively within a team environment
- Demonstrate initiative and contribute ideas for process improvements and operational efficiencies
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the research mission
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science from an accredited university or college in a relevant field such as Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, or another relevant field with 2+ years' experience
- U.S. Citizenship
- Pass a government background check and maintain appropriate security clearances
- Experience with Mammalian Cell Culture, Hybridoma Cell Culture, Bacterial Cell Culture, Propagation of viruses, and maintaining electronic inventory records
- Maintain compliance with all NBAF safety and security regulations
- Ability to lift and carry a minimum of fifty (50) pounds over extended periods
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and pull equipment throughout the workday
- Possess the physical stamina required to work on feet for extended periods
Nice to have:
- Experience with DARBI, MasterControl, and Maximo applications
