About This Role
This laboratory technician role in a plant setting involves ensuring all lab equipment operates within specifications and that sampling and testing adhere to the latest standards. The position suits a professional who can interpret test results and collaborate with plant personnel.
Responsibilities
- Perform all tasks in a safe and professional manner in conformance with Plant rules, Quality standards, and Company Policies
- Perform material sampling, sample preparation, testing, and reporting
- Interpret laboratory test results in connection with the manufacturing process and collaborate with Control Room Operator(s) and other plant personnel
- Ensure all laboratory equipment is working properly, safely, and yielding accurate test results
- Ensure all servicing and training requirements are made for all laboratory equipment
- Provide assistance and/or relief for physical and chemical testing as required
- Report any test results falling outside of KPIs or ASTM / AASHTO specifications
- Perform minor adjustments to laboratory equipment as required
- Inspect laboratory and quality control equipment on a regular basis and prepare work orders as required
- Use LDMS, RMCS, Excel, and other computerized management tools
- Ensure proper disposal of chemicals and samples
- Work with other departments to solve quality-related problems
- Input and report operating statistics
- Sample, split, package, and ship samples for third-party testing
Requirements
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, with initiative for task completion
- Demonstrated Excel Level 1 skills (entry test required)
- Demonstrated basic Math and Logic Skills (entry test required)
Nice to have:
- Three years of cement plant experience
- Associate’s degree in a Science or related field
- Lab operation experience
