Laboratory Technician

About This Role

This laboratory technician role involves strictly adhering to laboratory SOPs to ensure quality and safety. The position requires occasional overtime and prolonged standing, and a dedicated training program is provided for success. It suits proactive individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments, pay attention to detail, and understand the big picture.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety protocols
• Strictly follow SOPs and site trainers' direction in training, sample handling, project processing, and documentation
• Maintain cleanliness of work area
• Sort incoming samples
• Prepare sequencing templates, including preparation, amplification, and PCR purification
• Handle washing, biohazardous/hazardous waste collection, and packaging
• Communicate professionally with customers and other departments via email/phone
• Assist in purifying sequencing templates and load samples onto sequencing machines
• Work with automation platforms as needed
• May require working overtime, weekends, or alternative shifts with advanced notice

Requirements

• High School Diploma required
• AAS Degree or equivalent lab work experience preferred
• 1+ years of lab work experience preferred
• Excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written

Nice to have:

• Proficiency in pipetting transfer
• Strong documentation skills
• Experience in plating samples and PCR with plasma and bacteria
• Ability to work with both manual and automation processes
• Capacity to handle four plates a day initially
• Experience with overnight sequencing

• Schedule: Tu-Sa from 9 am to 5:30 pm, with the first three weeks dedicated to training M-F from 11 am to 7:30 pm; may include alternating shifts
• Contract: Contract to Hire
