Laboratory Technician

About This Role

Performing laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials is the core of this role, which involves working with soils, aggregates, and concrete. The Laboratory Technician will communicate test results and prepare reports under the supervision of a Project/Lab Manager.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g., soils, aggregates, and concrete)
• Communicate with the project manager, engineering technicians, client representative, contractor’s representative, and others as applicable regarding lab test results
• Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in the form of written and digital reports as work is performed for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project/Lab Manager
• Maintain and clean equipment, including associated work areas
• Adhere to strict safety standards
• Assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observation duties under close supervision of higher-level technicians or staff professionals
• Provide clear documentation of findings and results
• Communicate information to Project/Lab Manager and discuss accuracy of data in preparation for submittal
• Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by the Project/Lab Manager
• Be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments
• Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects
• Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work
• Report any safety issues or concerns to management
• Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 6 months experience required
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required
• Obtain ACI certification within 90 days of hire
• Successful completion of related internal safety certifications
