About This Role
This laboratory technician role provides essential technical support to the production departments of a local metal manufacturing company. The core responsibility involves analyzing metal samples from the manufacturing process, ensuring quality and supporting research and development efforts.
Responsibilities
- Complete mechanical and dimensional testing of metal samples following work instructions and ASTM specifications
- Utilize router, shear, and other small power tools to shape samples
- Prepare and analyze solid metal samples for chemical composition
- Enter data accurately and completely to record test results and communicate those results to required parties
- Perform preventative maintenance and calibration to keep test equipment in good working order
- Maintain retention sample inventory for required intervals
- Support Quality and R&D departments with special testing protocols
- Perform any other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Associate Degree in a science-related field, and/or 3 years of lab experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Manufacturing or metals experience preferred
- General understanding of PCs and related software experience
- Sound communication, organizational, and analytical skills with the ability to plan work
- Proper use of testing equipment
- Familiarity with ASTM methods
