Laboratory Assistant - Laboratory

About This Role

This laboratory assistant role involves performing phlebotomies on patients of all age groups, processing specimens, and conducting specialized tests. The position also includes patient registration, ordering laboratory tests in the EMR, and performing breath alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomies on patients of all age groups
• Perform patient registrations and order laboratory tests in the EMR
• Process laboratory specimens
• Collect specialized tests
• Perform breath alcohol testing

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Valid Driver's license or eligible for a Commonwealth of PA driver's license if out of state
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) – required prior to the end of the orientation period

Nice to have:

• Completion of a phlebotomy, certified nursing assistant, or medical assistant training course
• Certification with ASCP or the National Healthcareer Association, Inc. as a certified phlebotomy technician or other discipline listed above
• Customer service experience
• Ability to work well under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Medical terminology knowledge
