Laboratory Assistant

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field is preferred
• Coursework in laboratory techniques, microbiology, or diagnostic testing is a plus
• No prior laboratory experience required for entry-level candidates, but any internships, volunteer work, or academic projects in a laboratory setting will be considered a plus
• Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques such as pipetting, sample preparation, or working with laboratory equipment is a bonus
• Attention to Detail: Ability to perform tasks accurately and with precision, ensuring quality control standards are met
• Organization: Strong organizational skills to manage large volumes of samples, reagents, and laboratory supplies
• Basic Laboratory Skills: Understanding of common laboratory procedures such as sample preparation, pipetting, and use of basic lab equipment (e.g., centrifuges, balances)
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to document results and interact with team members
• Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality
• Team Player: Willingness to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
• Ability to lift and carry laboratory materials weighing up to 25 pounds
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform tasks that require manual dexterity
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as lab coats, gloves, safety goggles, and face shields, as required by the lab

Nice to have:

• Basic knowledge of automated diagnostic platforms or experience working with high-throughput equipment in a laboratory setting
• Familiarity with Lab Information Management Systems (LIMS) or other laboratory software for sample tracking and documentation
