About This Role
This Lab Assistant role involves collecting blood and other patient specimens for diagnostic testing, ensuring patient comfort and safety. You will identify patients, explain procedures, perform venipunctures, and accurately label and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, adhering to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary support for lab operations by organizing, correctly distributing, and carefully handling all incoming specimens
- Meticulously prepare and package specimens for external testing, managing all aspects of send-out procedures
- Champion positive patient identification and consistently demonstrate "HumanKindness" in all patient interactions
- Contribute to an efficient workflow by taking ownership of tasks, assisting team members, and fostering a collaborative environment
- Perform blood collection for all age groups (including Blood Bank collections) and conduct CLIA waived and moderately complex laboratory testing, evaluating and releasing results under CLS guidance, if qualified and regulated
- Maintain lab equipment, monitor and stock supply inventory, log necessary items, and exercise good judgment, seeking assistance when needed for smooth operations
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent
Nice to have:
- Lab Assistant Program certification; Phlebotomy program certificate
