Laboratory Assistant

About This Role

Working as a Laboratory Assistant in the Department of Psychology at Florida Atlantic University, you will play a central role in establishing a new laboratory. This position is ideal for an individual interested in pursuing further training in neuroscience, psychology, biomedical engineering, computer science, cognitive science, or a related field after gaining intensive research experience. This is a 1-year position with the possibility of renewal for a second year based on performance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the establishment of laboratory infrastructure and research workflows
• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot EEG or other research equipment
• Develop and optimize EEG preprocessing and analysis pipelines
• Assist with fMRI preprocessing and analysis pipelines
• Program behavioral experiments (e.g., PsychoPy, PsychoJS, E-Prime, MATLAB)
• Participate in study design, project development, and interpretation of research findings
• Manage research databases and ensure high-quality data organization
• Assist with participant recruitment, scheduling, and testing
• Supervise and train undergraduate research assistants
• Assist with statistical analyses, data visualization, and reproducible research workflows
• Contribute to manuscript preparation, conference presentations, and grant-related activities
• Perform general laboratory management and administrative tasks as needed
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution

Important Details

• Schedule: Monday - Friday, part-time up to 29 hours
• Contract: 1-year position with possibility of renewal
