Laboratory Assistant

About This Role

Working as a Medical Laboratory Assistant in the general laboratory involves performing basic laboratory duties and ensuring efficient specimen handling. Responsibilities

• Perform basic laboratory duties, including phlebotomy, other specimen collection, and waived testing
• Order, process, and distribute laboratory specimens
• Review pending reports and manifests for outstanding lab results
• Assist other lab personnel with specimen storage and retrieval
• Ensure Turn Around Times (TATs) are met
• Maintain inventory for phlebotomy services, reference lab supplies, and departmental office supplies
• Assist with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing, and transporting specimens

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Valid Driver's License
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• Basic math, interpretive, and analytical skills
• Information collection and management skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
