Laboratory Assistant

About This Role

Working under general supervision and following specific procedures, the Laboratory Assistant accurately performs pre-analytical and post-analytical tasks. This role involves processing information with attention to detail, interacting with patients and healthcare professionals, and responding to routine inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Accurately perform specific pre-analytical and post-analytical tasks
• Process information by compiling, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data with attention to detail
• Interact with patients and other healthcare professionals, and respond to routine inquiries
• Inspect and maintain work area, instruments, and supplies

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent education required
• Six (6) months experience in medical training and/or certification in a healthcare environment or related science field (i.e., Lab Assistant, Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Phlebotomist or Health Science studies)

Nice to have:

• Basic studies in medical terminology or a related health science field
• Customer service experience in a service environment
• For Phlebotomists: Phlebotomy Certification
