About This Role
The Laboratory Analyst performs physical and chemical analyses of water samples according to approved laboratory procedures and quality management systems. This role is essential for ensuring accurate and timely test results while maintaining compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Receive, verify, label, and prepare water samples for analysis.
- Check sample identification, condition, preservation, and holding times.
- Prepare reagents, standards, and solutions for testing.
- Perform physical and chemical analyses using approved methods.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments such as pH meters and spectrophotometers.
- Conduct instrument calibration and quality control checks.
- Record analytical procedures, observations, and results accurately.
- Comply with the laboratory's Quality Management System and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in proficiency testing and quality assurance programs.
- Maintain documentation and traceability of samples and results.
- Report deviations or equipment malfunctions to the Laboratory Supervisor.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Monitor equipment calibration status and maintain adequate stocks of supplies.
- Follow safety protocols and proper chemical handling procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in physical and chemical water analysis is preferred.
- Knowledge of laboratory analytical methods and quality control procedures.
- Familiarity with water quality standards and laboratory SOPs is preferred.
- Ability to perform calculations and interpret analytical data.
- Good organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to undergo relevant training and competency assessments.
