Laboratory Analyst

About This Role

This laboratory analyst role involves delivering accurate, high-quality analytical testing services within an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory. The position is ideal for an experienced analyst who enjoys solving technical challenges, maintaining high scientific standards, and working within a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform chemical and instrumental analysis on environmental and agricultural samples
• Prepare and test samples in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation, including liaison with service engineers where required
• Assist with analytical method development and validation projects
• Review, interpret, and verify analytical data to ensure accuracy, quality, and traceability
• Participate in internal audits and quality improvement initiatives
• Maintain laboratory records and documentation to accreditation standards
• Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental procedures

Requirements

• BSc (minimum) in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related scientific discipline
• 3-5 years' experience within a commercial analytical laboratory
• Strong experience with analytical instrumentation such as ICP-MS, GC-MS, HPLC, or similar technologies
• Experience working within an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory
• Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment

Nice to have:

• Experience supporting laboratory quality systems and audits
• Knowledge of environmental and agricultural testing methodologies
• Microbiology laboratory experience, including sample preparation, microbial analysis and result interpretation
