Labor and Delivery Nurse

About This Role

This nursing position involves providing direct patient care within the scope of practice for a Registered Nurse, with a focus on labor and delivery. The role requires utilizing therapeutic communication, maintaining a safe environment, and identifying patient needs to plan individualized care.

Responsibilities

• Utilize therapeutic communication in daily practice
• Maintain a safe therapeutic environment
• Identify nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient
• Demonstrate age-specific knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients
• Ensure the privacy of patients and confidentiality of their Protected Health Information (PHI)
• Utilize the nursing process for individual care to meet needs of patients
• Document all patient care
• Demonstrate the ability to perform technical skills, follow procedures, and show critical thinking
• Provide care and coordinate participation that fosters the goals of the hospital's mission and vision statement

Requirements

• Degree from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (B.S. or A.S.)
• 1 year of RN experience required
• Current licensure by Tennessee Board of Nursing or Compact State

Nice to have:

• Labor and Delivery experience highly preferred
• BLS
• ACLS Required within 6 months
• NRP Required within 6 months
• AWHONN basic, intermediate and advanced within one year
• CPI Training & Certification required within 6 months
