About the role

Schedule/Hours: Monday through Friday (10 am to 6:30 pm)

This position is responsible for:

Researches, leads, and develops the curriculums and activities for all Kroc Academy programs to include – after school services, seasonal camps, youth centered events, community children’s activities, home school program and child watch, while modeling behaviors consistent with Salvation Army values, mission and National Kroc Standards. Prepares, documents, and monitors corresponding budgets and forecasting. Interfaces and utilizes services of Congregational Life staff to develop and implement wholistic family programs aligned with The Salvation Army and Kroc Center mission. Collaborates with program departments across the Kroc Center to fulfill the goals for each participant and the established initiatives of the departments for which they are responsible, as well as the Kroc Center and Area Command.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and manage all curriculum and activities for Kroc Academy programming.
  • Provide training to staff enabling them to carry out the curriculum and activities for their designated job assignments, including prioritizing positive customer service experiences for members, participants and guests.
  • Maintain awareness of state child care licensure requirements and adjusts programming and internal processes to align with regulations.
  • Develop and manage budgets and forecasts for the department.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans which are age-group program specific; utilizes age-group appropriate discovery areas, including Bible Study, enriched with program-specific activities, teacher-made materials and hands-on activities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to observe children and ensure their safety.
  • Ability to lift, hold, and carry toddlers on a regular basis.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines.
  • Work may be performed in an office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like but not limited to the office environment due to travel requirements.

Education and Experience

Four-year degree in related field and three years of experience supervising youth, home school, camp and afterschool programs OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • C.P.R. and First Aid Certification
  • Safe from Harm Certification, as directed by supervisor.
