About This Role

Karenni Interpreters provide accurate, confidential, and culturally sensitive interpretation between Karenni and English in various settings. This remote, contract role involves facilitating clear communication between parties and adhering to established interpreting protocols and codes of ethics.

Responsibilities

• Respond to scheduled and on-demand calls or video sessions
• Facilitate clear communication between parties
• Adhere to established interpreting protocols and codes of ethics
• Manage assignments through GLOBO’s technology platform
• Maintain professional boundaries
• Follow client-specific instructions and documentation requirements as needed
• Participate in training sessions and performance reviews to ensure continuous quality improvement

Requirements

• Strong language skills in Karenni and English, including excellent listening, speaking, and comprehension abilities
• Demonstrated interpreting skills, such as consecutive interpretation, note-taking, and accurate message transfer without omissions or additions
• Knowledge of professional ethics and standards for interpreters, including confidentiality, impartiality, and cultural sensitivity
• Ability to work effectively in remote environments, with reliable internet access and proficiency using online platforms, telephony, and video tools
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including clarity of speech, patience, and the ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to follow instructions, manage time efficiently, and remain calm and professional in urgent or emotionally sensitive situations

Nice to have:

• Experience interpreting in healthcare, legal, social services, education, or government settings
• Additional training or certification in interpreting or linguistics
