About the role
This position will be located at Prophet Aquatic Research and Outreach Center (PAROC) at Emporia State University (ESU), which is located in Emporia, KS. PAROC connects communities with natural resources through hands-on experiences, STEM education, environmental education, and community outreach. Located on King Lake and surrounded by diverse natural resources, PAROC provides opportunities for students, educators, families, and community members to explore aquatic ecosystems, prairie ecology, biodiversity, conservation, watersheds, and other environmental and STEM topics. In this position, the member will support the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of STEM and environmental education programs at the Prophet Aquatic Research and Outreach Center. The member will provide direct educational service to youth, families, educators, ESU students, and community members through hands-on programs at PAROC and at schools and community locations throughout the region. The member will assist with expanding PAROC's traveling outreach programs, developing educational activities and community partnerships, supporting recurring programs and special events, and increasing access to hands-on STEM and environmental education opportunities. The member will work closely with the Outreach Director, PAROC student assistants, volunteers, educators, and community partners.

Member Duties : eeCorps members engage with their Host Site organizations to develop, implement and enhance programs, projects, and activities that will create progress towards eeCorps’ and PAROC’s goals. These activities include, but are not limited to:Assist with planning, preparing, implementing, and evaluating hands-on STEM and environmental education programs for PreK–12 students, families, educators, ESU students, and community members. Develop and facilitate interactive, inquiry-based educational activities related to aquatic ecology, prairie ecology, biodiversity, conservation, watersheds, pollution, natural resources, and other STEM and environmental topics. Support PAROC's field trips, Science Saturday programs, Science Storytime programs, summer camps, traveling programs, teacher professional development opportunities, community events, and other educational programs.
