Junior Tool Setter / Machine Setter - Full Training Provided
Full time: Monday - Friday 7.00am to 3.00pm
We are looking for a mechanically minded person to join our manufacturing team and train as a Tool Setter / Machine Setter
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with machinery, tools, and their hands and wants to develop practical technical skills
Previous tool-setting or thermoforming experience is not required. What is important to us is mechanical aptitude, reliability, attention to detail and a genuine willingnes to learn.
About the role
Working alongside an experienced team, you will initially be trained in fitting and changing cavities and tooling, preparing tooling for production, assisting with machine setups and changeovers, and learning to set and operate thermoforming and vacuum-forming machinery. You will monitor machines during production and identify when adjustments are required, learn to troubleshoot and correct machine-setting issues, carry out basic checks and adjustments to ensure products are being manufactured correctly, and maintain a clean and organised work area. As your skills develop, you will take on greater responsibility for machine setting, adjustments and troubleshooting.
Key responsibilities
- Fit and change cavities and tooling
- Prepare tooling for production
- Assist with machine setups and changeovers
- Assist experienced machine setters
- Learn to set and operate thermoforming and vacuum-forming machinery
- Monitor machines during production and identify when adjustments are required
- Learn to troubleshoot and correct machine-setting issues
- Carry out basic checks and adjustments to ensure products are being manufactured correctly
- Maintain a clean and organised work area
About you
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Enjoys understanding how machines and equipment work
- Comfortable using hand tools
- Practical and good at solving problems
- Pays attention to detail
- Reliable and punctual
- Willing to listen, learn and ask questions
- Takes pride in doing a job properly
- Works well as part of a team
- Experience in manufacturing, machine operation, mechanical assembly, thermoforming, machine maintenance, plastics or a similar hands-on environment would be useful, but is not essential
