Junior Accountant

About This Role

The Junior Accountant supports the general business and payroll/benefits functions for one of America's leading centers for culinary education. This role is ideal for an organized, diligent, and detail-oriented individual with a general bookkeeping/accounting background and strong communication skills, who is passionate about the world of food.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate administration of accounts payable
• Serve as a backup for payroll processing
• Participate in the monthly close
• Assist with the HR function to ensure employee benefit and compensation data are reflected accurately and timely
• Assist in annual audits
• Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned
• Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department

Requirements

• Degree or certification in Accounting or Finance (preferred)
• Minimum of three years' related accounting experience and/or employee benefit administration
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Comfortable working with databases and financial systems
• Able to identify priorities within multiple assignments in a high-pressured, short-deadline environment
• Able to work with diplomacy and efficiency in a high-pressured, short-deadline environment
• Excellent organizational, analytical, critical thinking, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
• Ability to function comfortably in a dynamic and highly computerized environment
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills
• High energy level
• Ability to work well under pressure
