Junior Accountant

About This Role

Joining Flatpay Netherlands, the Junior Accountant will support the financial operations of the company, reporting to the Senior Accountant. This role is ideal for an ambitious individual looking to grow beyond transactional processing into a broader finance role within a rapidly expanding company.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of the Dutch financial statements together with the Finance Lead Netherlands
• Support the preparation of VAT (BTW) returns and help ensure compliance with Belastingdienst requirements and Dutch tax regulations
• Handle customer invoicing and maintain accurate accounts receivable records
• Process accounts payable, reimbursements and card expenses timely and in line with Dutch regulation, including correct VAT and WKR treatment
• Contribute to month-end and year-end closing, reconciliations and audits
• Help improve finance systems and processes as the company scales
• Take on more responsibility over time as the Dutch business grows

Requirements

• Ambitious to grow beyond processing transactions and build towards a broader finance role in a fast-growing company
• Humble, a team player, easy to work with, and supportive of colleagues across all departments
• Smart, with a solid accounting foundation, able to learn fast and ask the right questions
• Able to explain numbers clearly to non-finance colleagues
• Good knowledge of Dutch VAT (BTW) and Belastingdienst compliance
• Highly organised, detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple priorities
• Excellent communication and relationship skills across all levels
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
• Comfortable working in an environment with evolving processes and able to bring structure where needed
• Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• 3+ years’ experience in an accounting or finance role
• Experience with accounts receivable and invoicing
• Experience with accounts payable and ensuring correct records of expenses
• Hands-on, proactive and able to adapt in a fast-growing company

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Business Central
