Junior Accountant

About This Role

This Junior Accountant role supports core accounting operations, assists with multi-entity reporting, and contributes to reliable financial workflows for a growing organization. It is ideal for someone early in their accounting career who is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in developing CPA-aligned competencies in financial reporting, reconciliations, internal controls, and ethical practice.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate customer invoices and assist with supplier account reconciliations
• Respond to internal and external financial inquiries within service timelines
• Communicate professionally with suppliers, customers, and internal teams
• Identify discrepancies in pricing, costs, statements, and receipts
• Assist in resolving supplier or customer billing issues using documentation and process
• Escalate issues with recommended information and maintain decision logs
• Assist in preparing monthly financial reports for multiple entities
• Support month-end activities, including gathering documentation and preparing basic journal entry inputs (accruals, prepaids, amortization)
• Update cash projection worksheets and support cash flow planning
• Monitor costs and pricing for accuracy and efficiency
• Support year-end accounting activities within 45 working days of fiscal year-end
• Assist in preparing statutory filings (including monthly HST) accurately and on time
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and adhere to internal controls
• Support CRA communications with professionalism and confidentiality
• Enter product receipts and reconcile purchase orders
• Apply customer payments and maintain AR/AP accuracy
• Crosstrain on tax processes and support CRA documentation
• Use accounting systems effectively and identify opportunities for process improvement
• Complete weekly bank reconciliations under guidance
• Monitor daily emails and ensure timely filing and follow-up
• Support phone coverage and administrative workflows as part of team operations
• Contribute to predictable, organized month-end and year-end cycles
• Participate in required training sessions
• Support colleagues by responding to emails and calls when needed
• Perform other duties as required to meet operational needs
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and legislative requirements
• Complete ad hoc projects as assigned

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
• 2–5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience (co-op, internship, or part-time experience welcome)
