About This Role
This role in a fast-paced, digital-first newsroom is for a skilled reporter who is eager to find and write strong news stories. You will be responsible for quickly and accurately verifying and publishing news throughout the day, leveraging social media to maximize audience reach, and understanding audience interests.
Responsibilities
- Write quickly, accurately, and concisely
- Track down and verify stories to be first and correct with the news
- Work in a fast-paced, digital-first newsroom that publishes throughout the day
- Use social media platforms to sell stories for maximum audience reach
- Gauge what stories the audience is interested in
- Chase hard news and dig deep to find the story behind the story
- Build contacts and seek out exclusive content
- Create basic video packages
Requirements
- Adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail
- At least two years of newsroom experience
Nice to have:
- Experience in Canva and tools like Flourish
