Duties

Serves as senior IT Specialist and Regional Subject Matter Expert (SME), responsible for the Local Network Enterprise Centers (LNECs) assigned to the Fort Riley Regional Network Enterprise Center (RNEC).

Implements integrated practices into Information Technology Enterprise Management Systems. Manages oversight of the Information Technology, for both Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet) & Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet).

Provides technical advice, guidance and distributes projects in accordance with workflow, skill level, and specialization. Writes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and trains other System Administrators.

Monitors the ongoing operation of a complex network environment with a large number of users and ensures corrective action to restore operational service is accomplished.

Serves as a technical expert performing feasibility studies, which involve application of emerging computer technology to resolve unique user information technology and/or telecommunications requirements.

Evaluates the nature and scope of work to be automated to determine the need for system development, modifications, or redesign. Prepares system documentation in accordance with required standards.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the federal service which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: experience configuring and installing information technology equipment; experience performing function testing of hardware and/or software to resolve technical problems; experience performing feasibility studies; experience identifying and anticipating server performance; and experience implementing systems diagnostic and maintenance tools.
Individuals must also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendation.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent).
