Duties
As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC) you will directly support the Regional Network Enterprise Center (RNEC) Cybersecurity Division which mandates, roles, responsibilities, and procedures for the implementation of Army Cybersecurity Programs consistent with today's technological advancements for achieving acceptable levels of security in engineering implementation, operation, and maintenance for Information Systems (IS) connecting to or crossing any U.S. Army managed network or system. Army Cybersecurity Programs apply to IS, including but not limited to, computers, processors, devices, or environments (operating in a prototype, test bed, stand-alone, integrated, embedded or networked configuration) that store, process, access or transmit data, including unclassified, sensitive, and classified data.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: 1. Identifying information system vulnerabilities. 2. Assisting in information systems forensic analysis and 3. Assessing the Anti-Virus (AV) protection of information systems using a variety of automated tools. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09) and the following (4) competencies:
- Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
- Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
- Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
- Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you can meet the qualification requirement using experience OR the substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Education:
At the GS-11 Grade: you must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or completion of all requirements for an LL.M. (if related) from an accredited college or university. (Transcripts are required with your application)
