IT Manager

About This Role

This IT Manager role is vital for setting up and running the first office in New York City, as well as managing global IT operations for a remote workforce. The position involves ensuring all technical tools and infrastructure function seamlessly, from meeting room connectivity to employee onboarding and offboarding. It suits a highly autonomous individual who can make quick decisions and drive the pace of technical operations for a fast-moving AI company.

Responsibilities

• Stand up and run meeting technology, including Zoom Rooms in conference rooms and digital displays throughout the office
• Own the Ubiquiti network, Wi-Fi, and internet, from deployment through uptime
• Own badge access for employees, visitor badge issuance, and access logs
• Deploy and maintain desk setups: monitors, docks, cables, peripherals, and ergonomic equipment
• Provide fast, friendly walk-up support to in-office employees and remote support for the global workforce
• Coordinate with Workplace Operations on office build-out, moves, and any overlaps between facilities and technology
• Partner with People on onboarding and offboarding for employees and contractors, ensuring access starts on day one and ends on the last
• Administer SSO and MDM, handle access change requests, and own MacBook configuration and fleet standards
• Support the daily stack: Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace, and all other tools employees use

Requirements

• Several years in hands-on IT operations
• Real experience standing up office technology, including AV and conference rooms, enterprise networking (Ubiquiti a plus), and physical access control
• Admin-level fluency with SSO and MDM on a Mac-first fleet
• Experience hiring and managing outsourced vendors, such as MSPs, AV installers, ISPs, network and Wi-Fi specialists, and hardware suppliers
• Clear, proactive communication, whether explaining a network cutover to leadership or guiding a new hire through their first login
• Real empathy for the people you support, understanding that "my laptop is broken" often means "I have a demo in ten minutes"
• A strong work ethic and a willingness to overcome challenges for the team, as IT pace sets the business pace
• A calm demeanor when faced with unexpected technical issues, such as a screen going dark minutes before an All Hands meeting
• Ability to fix issues once, then document, script, or standardize them to prevent recurrence

Nice to have:

• IT certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA, or Cisco
• Familiarity with compliance environments such as SOC 2, PCI DSS, HIPAA, or GDPR
• Experience supporting IT through M&A
