IT Director

About This Role

Leading the technology strategy and operations for a growing Tribal organization is the core of the IT Director role at Ketchikan Indian Community. This position is essential for ensuring dependable systems and responsible access to information while maintaining cybersecurity and business continuity.

Responsibilities

• Set the organization’s technology direction and ensure secure and reliable IT services
• Manage cybersecurity and technology risk, enterprise infrastructure, and applications
• Oversee disaster recovery, vendor and contract management, and departmental budgeting
• Develop and lead the IT team, ensuring performance and professional growth
• Partner with executive and program leadership to understand operational needs and establish technology priorities
• Guide technology investments that are practical, sustainable, and effectively serve the Tribe
• Communicate technology plans and recommendations to nontechnical leaders and Tribal Council

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or business administration
• Five years of experience in an IT operations role, including progressive leadership experience
• Current and valid State of Alaska driver's license with an acceptable record
• Current recognized certification in MCSE, A+, Cisco, CNE, or other relevant training/experience preferred

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of Tribal government, Tribal governance, or service delivery within an American Indian or Alaska Native organization
