The IT Cloud Engineer role is responsible for the design, deployment, and ongoing management of Welocalize cloud infrastructure. As an IT Cloud Engineer, you will lead the design, deployment, and ongoing management of our cloud infrastructure. You will work closely with software engineers, system administrators, and other key stakeholders to develop and implement advanced cloud solutions. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, scalability, and high availability of our cloud services and platforms. You will also provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, driving improvements and innovations in our cloud strategy.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure using multiple cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.)
- Collaborate with development teams to create and implement cloud solutions and best practices.
- Ensure system availability, reliability, and scalability.
- Monitor and manage billing, cost optimization, and capacity planning.
- Conduct performance tuning/right-sizing, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Implement and maintain cloud security controls including firewalls, IAM roles, and secret management.
- Automate routine tasks with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Infrastructure as Code solutions such as Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM.
- Assist in the migration of traditional applications to a cloud-based environment.
- Create and maintain documentation for cloud architectures, procedures, and policies.
- Ensure cloud environments have proper observability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.
- Stay up to date on technical trends related to cloud infrastructure management and operation.
- Coach, train, and guide junior team members as needed.
- Requires general direction, with little or no supervision on weekly tasks.
Experience Required
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in cloud systems engineering or related role.
- Strong experience working with cloud platforms Azure and related services.
- Experience working with cloud platforms AWS and GCP a plus.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker.
- Experience in using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
- Experience working in Github.
- Strong knowledge of cloud networking, storage, and compute components.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or another scripting language.
- Cloud related certifications are a plus.

- Server administration (Windows, Apache, Linux/Unix, or other).
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to self-direct work under limited supervision, completing projects within agreed time frames.
- Good judgement when prioritizing how to respond to multiple competing requests.
